A new resource designed to help practitioners, evaluators, researchers and policymakers select instruments to assess science learning and child outcomes in out-of-school programs is now available.  PEAR, a Harvard University-McLean Hospital team led by Dr. Gil Noam, has developed a searchable database of assessment tools for evaluating program quality and outcomes.

Child Trends

Child Trends has developed short, easy-to-read resources that provide research-based guidance for out-of-school time program providers on topics ranging from staff development and cultural competence to implementing evidence-based practices and evaluating program outcomes for youth.  All of these resources are available for free download.

The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) released a report by Policy Studies Associates (PSA) demonstrating that the Out-of-School Time (OST) initiative is meeting the afterschool needs of high school youth.
